Body pump Tuesday

Sometimes I just can’t think of a blog post title. Can you relate blog friends? Well today was one of those days… It’s Tuesday and I body pumped… so, Body Pump Tuesday it is :).

Breakfast + Workout


For some reason 8 am felt so incredibly early this morning, ya know the days when you have to drag yourself out of bed? Yup, today was one of those days. But, I forced my big butt out of bed because Amy and I had a 9 am body pump class on the agenda.

Oh, and I just bought a new workout outfit at Sports Authority last night, so I was obviously excited to try it out. Cute clothes = motivation.

The class was just what I was needing in my life. I think I mentioned earlier this week that I have beens seriously slacking in the strength training department of my life, and what better way to change that than with some Body Pump? It was perfection, I am going to feel it tomorrow, I can already tell. 

After the class, Amy and I stuck around for 20 minutes of cardio before heading home. 

When I got home I scarfed down a peanut butter banana smoothie (with the edition of some of my fresh blueberries) in the form of a smoothie bowl. Ignore the bubbles, I swear it’s delicious.

Oh and one more thing, did I mention I’m obsessed with Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches this Summer? This is the fifth flavor, yes FIFTH flavor Amy and I have tried this Summer. This is the limited edition Snickerdoodle flavor.

I know I look great, you don’t have to tell me ;). 

I’m off to spend all my hard earned money shop for Israel. I leave in less than a week, ah!

Tanning and Target

Good Evening!

I feel like I haven’t written a normal post in such a long time, I’ve been holding out on you guys!

Let me get back on track and fill you in on my day.

I didn’t have to work today, so I woke up around 8:30 and went on a 3 mile hilly run around my neighborhood.

Breakfast

When I got back from my run I ate the Overnight Oats that I prepared the night before. I always add a 1/2 a banana to my overnight oats in the morning, but this morning I came back to a banana-less house. I was depressed. But, then I found a full box of big, fat, juicy blueberries and my depression was instantly lifted :).

After my oats, I gave Spanky another bath (you can see how the last one went here). And, then spent the rest of the day reading The Help, while tanning on my deck. Spanky was catching some rays as well.

Lunch

For lunch I tried to be a little chef and create a seafood salad with the leftover crabs and shrimp from our Father’s Day feast. Did I mention Crabs are my absolute favorite food like ever?

Oh, and old bay on crabs = complete happiness. I remember when I tried to tell 2 of my friends from North Carolina how much I loved Old Bay and they had never heard of it. Um what? They were seriously missing out all their lives. They have obviously have since been forced by me to eat it.

I mixed whole wheat pasta, shrimp, 2 picked crabs, and some avocado. However, it didn’t turn out so well. I don’t think the combination of avocado with seafood was one for my tastebuds. Ya win some ya lose some. I did enjoy eating it on my deck while sunbathing though :).

When my Mom came home we went to Target with a plan to buy just one thing: Divergent. I have been wanting to read it for so long. Everyone whose read it loved it, and said I had to read it! I finally have it and I can’t wait to read it at the beach next week after I finish The Help.

Obviously we bought more than just that book, because it is impossible to go to Target and just buy one thing. I ended up getting the book, a super cute high low blue dress that I am planning to wear on Friday to Amy’s graduation, some more of my favorite Vanilla Whey protein powder, strawberries, and bananas (thank goodness).

After Target we went to Kohls because I needed some new polos for work. Annnnnd again, ended up leaving the store with more than I planned on getting. I also got a cute hot pink running tank and some plain black running shorts. I couldn’t resist :(.

I was so excited about my new running gear I decided to run 2 miles as soon as I got home to test it out. It was another 3 miles plus 2 miles = 5 kinda day.

Now I’m off to watch the episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey I missed from last night, have a good one!

Question for ya: What is your favorite food of all time?!

Mine is a 3-way tie between: anything with peanut butter, crabs, and pasta salad.

 

 

Running Fail

Good morning!

I had a bit of a failed attempt at running.

Workout 

This morning I woke up all ready to try and beat my current distance record of four miles. I even had my running plan mapped out from my walk with Amy last night. Well, I knew we were supposed to have some crazy severe weather all day today.

However, when I checked my phone last night it said that it was going to be sunny up until 9 am. Sooo, I woke my lazy but up at 7:30 and headed out for my run at 8.

It was cloudy when I started running, but I thought whatever it’s not raining yet. I even got all the way out of my neighborhood for the first time ever (does this count as a new running territory?)

I had entered into another neighborhood that was under trees and by the time I ran out of the wooded area, I looked up and the sky was yellow, yes yellow. At this point I had run about 2 miles and it would have been a little over a mile to get back to my house. I called Amy panicked and asked her to please pick me up so I would’t get eaten by a tornado. Apparently the weather decided to change it’s mind and start a little earlier. Just my luck.

Of course, by the time she gets to me the sky is no longer yellow, and I totally could have made it the mile back to my house :(…. Running FAIL.

I was so mad I didn’t stick it out but, the positive side of my running flop? On the way home we found this little guy in the middle of the street and brought him back to our yard. Meet Todd.

He is currently safe wandering our yard.

Breakfast

Another round of Overnight Oats that I made last night.

Even though my run was a bit of a fail because it was shorted by 3 miles, at least I got in a little run before the rain started! If it clears up at all I plan to hit the pavement again for at least 2 more miles. I’m itching for a run.

But for now it’s just me and this guy waiting out the storm (this is him shaking in the corner of the kitchen because he is terrified of thunder).

Summer Day

Hey, Friends!

I hope you’re Wednesday went well.

My morning started bright and early with peanut butter banana blueberry wrap. I was inspired by Amy’s peanut butter banana wrap she made last night for her lunch today. Plus, we just got a brand new peanut butter, so obviously I had to break it in ;). I was not a happy camper when I came home to this last night…

Luckily my Mom knows about my dire need for peanut butter in my life every single day, and when she came home last night this was in my sight. Phewww. Thank goodness for Moms.

All you do is spread on some peanut butter and add 1/2 a sliced banana, then add whatever toppings you want. This morning I added cinnamon and blueberries. After all my toppings were added I put it in the microwave for 30 seconds because melty peanut butter = yum.

Workout

I ate my wrap, digested a little bit, did some blog stuff, and eventually went to the gym. My legs were still super sore from my run yesterday and my circuit training on Monday, so this was all I could manage:

  • 10 minutes on the elliptical (just to warm up my legs)
  • A thirty minute Pure Stretch class
  • Abs
  • 1 arm machine

I originially wanted to do a Yoga class this morning but my gym wasn’t offering one. When I saw Pure Stretch on the schedule I was game. However, when I got to the class I was the youngest one in there by at least 30 years. Hey stretching is stretching!

Lunch

After the gym I came home and made another one of my Peanut Butter Banana Smoothies.

It was amazing as always.

After downing my smoothie in .2 seconds I went to my friend Kristin’s pool and laid out with my friends all day long while reading the Help, oh how I love Summer.

Snack

When I came home from the pool I devoured some watermelon.

For dinner my parents brought home Athens Grill which is my absolute favorite type of food… Greek!

It was delicious, but I ate one too many pitas drenched in Tzatziki sauce and my belly was beyond full. I convinced Amy to go on a long walk with me to make my stomach feel better. We walked a little over two miles and brought Spanky along, of course.

Amy and I even saw our first fireflies of the Summer tonight!! We also mapped out our morning runs for tomorrow. The only downside? We are most definitely going to wake up with about a hundred bug bites. We were stupid and forgot to put on bug spray :(.

Five minutes after we got home my brother Keith noticed a tick on Spanky’s face from the walk.

Frustrating Run

Good Morning.

I had one of those runs that was just not so great this morning.

After I woke up I ate 1/2 of a Power bar ,and drove to the lake where I earned my new distance record last week. I already knew the run would be a little tougher than usual because my legs were tight from all of the strength training I did at the gym yesterday. Well, it was pretty bad, I thought about stopping at least 4 times. I felt like my body = a ton of metal. The combination of the heat, my sore muscles, and a stomach ache seriously slowed me down and I finished 3 miles in just under 30 minutes. This is probably the slowest 3 miles time I have gotten since I started running regularly. I was bummed and it put a pretty big damper on my mood.

But then I reminded myself:

  • Not every run is perfect
  • At least I got out there and ran
  • I didn’t stop
  • It was still an awesome workout
  • It will be better next time

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was pretty yummy. I made a veggie scrambled egg bowl. For a normal person it would be a veggie scrambled omelet, but I am never capable of keeping it an omelet, and just give up and result to scrambled eggs!

To make it I cut up some veggies, added some cheese, cooked it on the stove, and topped it off with some avocado.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 orange pepper
  • 1 large mushroom
  • A little bit of cut up onion
  • 1 cut up Light Baby Bell Cheese
  • 3 egg whites, 1 egg
  • A couple slices of avocado

It looked prettier when it was cooking than when it was done.

Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

Hello!

Did anyone else feel like this, this morning? Because I sure did.

I was so spent from the weekend that I slept in a little bit. When I woke up and came downstairs the blender was already out from Amy, and it made me crave a smoothie bad. So, I got to work on my favorite smoothie ever: a Peanut Butter, chocolate, banana, smoothie!

Ingredients

How could you not like something that includes: peanut butter, banana, and chocolate?

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of Natural Peanut Butter
  • 1 full banana
  • 1 scoop of Vanilla Whey Protein Power (we were out of my favorite kind)
  • 1 scoop of Cocoa powder (to add the chocolatey taste!)

I put it all in the blender, added a handful of ice, and blended away.

Btw- I used Smuckers Natural Peanut Butter, because most other peanut butters include hydrogenated oil (which is trans fat!). I use this whenever I put peanut butter in smoothies, on sandwiches, or english muffins, etc. But, of course I still eat the other kind when it’s included in Reese’s cups and all other store bought peanut butter treats.

I had to use my Dad’s Peanuts cup for the smoothie, he is obsessed. Every year for Christmas we have an entire tree dedicated to just Snoopy ornaments.

After I finished my smoothie, I went out to Michaels and Fleet Feet with my friend Angel. I got 12 scrap book pages because they were on sale 6 for 1, a stamp, ink, and a new sweaty band headband. I told you guys I had fallen in love with them :).

When I got home from shopping my new headband motivated me to go to the gym :). Just kidding, but I was super excited to wear it. I ran a mile on the tread mill and then completed this cardio circuit workout five times:

  • 30 jumping jacks
  • 15 pushups
  • 10 jump squats
  • 20 burpees

After I finished the circuits, I did a few weight workouts, an arm machine, some abs, and stretched before heading home.

Ten Things Thursday

Good Morning, Happy Thursday!

As you probably know, I just started this blog of mine! And, since this blog is my brand new baby, I want to incorporate all of the things I love about the other blogs I read daily into mine. With a Miles of Molly twist of course.

One of those fun things I am referring to is the weekly themed posts that Bloggers create. Such as: Carrots n’ Cake’s Snapshot Fridays, or Peanut Butter Fingers’ Blog Talk Tuesdays. Well, what I am going to do is Ten Things Thursday! Every Thursday I am going to try highlight a list of ten things such as: what I’m loving at the time, my top ten favorite books, ten things in my makeup bag, etc, etc. This super wonderful idea most likely already exists, but if it does don’t burst my bubble. Just let me pretend I am super creative ;).

Breakfast

Before I get into all the fun stuff, let’s go over my breakfast this morning; A Strawberry Banana Smoothie. So,so, good.

Smoothies are delicious, fast, satisfying, and super easy to make, what more could you want in a breakfast?

To make this masterpiece, I put all of this in the blender:

  • 1 cup of Almond milk
  • 1 scoop of Vanilla protein powder
  • 1 whole banana
  • A handful and a half of strawberries
  • A handful of ice (un-pictured)

It didn’t look very appetizing, but at least it was all pretty and pink. There was too much to fit in a cup, so I had to improvise and put it all in a giant bowl.

smoothies are definitely the perfect Summer breakfast, I have a feeling I will be consuming about a million more of them throughout the season.

Ten Things

Now for my Ten Things List! Today it’s just going to be a bit of a random assortment of ten things I love at the moment.

1. I am absolutely obsessed with my new Target layered tank top. It is the perfect summer workout outfit, I wore it to the gym yesterday and didn’t want to take it off because it was so cute, especially the back :). I know it’s all in my mind but cute workout gear is totally motivation.

2. Summer fruit is in season, which means tons of fresh fruit in my house.

7. My new-ish dress. I guess it’s not really new because I got it more than a month ago, but I haven’t worn it yet. I am planning on wearing it for Amy’s graduation party in a few weeks.

8. The internet, because it allowed me to catch up with my best friend Mallory. She’s studying abroad in London right now, and I miss her! I hope you’re meeting tons of cute with English boys with adorable accents Mall ;).
